01 / Product Overview
What Is a Pure-PTFE Pump?
A pure-PTFE pump — also called a PTFE air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pump — is a pneumatic fluid-transfer unit built almost entirely from virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on the wetted side. It runs on compressed air: as the diaphragms on either side stroke back and forth, they draw fluid in and push it out.
Unlike centrifugal or gear pumps, a pure-PTFE pump has no shaft seal, no rotating parts in contact with the fluid, and no wetted metal. That design eliminates the two failure modes that plague corrosive-service pumping — leakage through seals and metal contamination of the media — at the source.

Six Reasons Engineers Specify RV Pure-PTFE Pumps
1. Full-PTFE Wetted Path, Built for Aggressive Service
Every wetted component is machined from virgin PTFE, purpose-built for strong acids, strong bases, and other aggressive chemicals. A fully PTFE wetted path means the material spec actually matches what a "pure-PTFE pump" promises — no hidden metal parts quietly reintroducing corrosion risk.
PTFE is inherently corrosion-resistant and handles elevated temperatures. Always confirm chemical compatibility and the allowable operating temperature against the specific model's datasheet for your application.
2. Cleanroom Assembly and Testing
RV pure-PTFE pumps are assembled and tested in a cleanroom environment. Before shipping, each unit is flushed and purified with deionized water, combining precision-machined components with controlled, clean assembly.
If your process carries FDA compliance requirements or ATEX certification needs, loop in our engineering team during model selection — we'll confirm the right configuration and the supporting documentation.
3. No Wetted Metal — Even the Fasteners Are Protected
RV pure-PTFE pumps use a no-wetted-metal design, cutting the risk of ionic contamination introduced by metal components. That makes them a natural fit for semiconductor and other high-purity applications.
The fastening hardware itself is shielded: fluoropolymer-lined bolts are hidden inside PTFE plug caps, adding corrosion protection right where the pump is most vulnerable. That detail works together with the wetted materials to deliver long-term corrosion resistance.
4. Solid PTFE Diaphragms — Corrosion-Proof and Easy to Clean
RV pure-PTFE pumps run on solid PTFE diaphragms. As the component that actually touches the fluid, the diaphragm stroking back and forth both moves the liquid and seals the fluid side off from the air side.
The solid-PTFE diaphragm pairs PTFE's chemical inertness with a non-porous diaphragm design, built for corrosive media and a clean wetted surface.
- ✓ Chemically resistant across a wide media rangePTFE is highly chemically stable and withstands a broad range of acids, alkalis, and solvents — a solid choice for chemical-transfer duties where wetted-component corrosion performance can't be compromised.
- ✓ Clean wetted surface, minimal metal contactThe fluid touches pure PTFE directly, with no exposed metal at the diaphragm sealing area — ideal for high-purity, contamination-sensitive transfer applications.
- ✓ Smooth surface for easy cleaning and media changeoverThe seamless, smooth wetted face, combined with PTFE's low-adhesion properties, helps prevent material buildup and residue, making flushing and media swaps straightforward.
Diaphragm selection should account for media type, temperature, working pressure, and cycle frequency, matching the right spec and service conditions to the duty so the material performs as intended.
5. Runs Dry, Self-Priming, Easy to Install
Pure-PTFE pumps can run dry without damage, need no lubrication, and operate quietly. Combined with self-priming capability, they give you more flexibility in equipment layout and field installation. Flow rates go up to 320 L/min.
Dry suction lift reaches up to 5 meters, making installation and deployment genuinely flexible.
6. Interchangeable Covers for Faster Assembly and Service
The upper and lower covers use a common, interchangeable design — assembly is simple, and maintenance is straightforward. Standardized parts mean no confusion between covers, easing assembly, disassembly, and inspection.
The solid block design keeps the footprint compact, and the inlet/outlet ports support multiple orientation options to match your existing piping layout.
Optional add-ons such as pulsation dampers let you expand the pump's capability as needed.
